Where can i get a free diabetic eye exam in or aroun corona , california?
Would you say the diabetic eye test is a good thing or a bad thing ?
Since having one of these tests in 2006 my left eye has been left blurred,ANY ONE ELSE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM ?
Should we claim? Hubby injured while wheeling me back down a steep ramp into a mobile diabetic eye test van?
I am in a wheelchair and had to attend a diabetic retinopathy eye test. When we got there it was in a van in the car park on a raised bay. We were shocked when shown a steep ramp that was unfolded at the rear of the van for wheelchairs made steeper by being parked an extra few inches higher in the bay but nevertheless I needed to have the eye test done so we braced ourselves and I wheeled as best I could and my husband pushed and got me in. Coming out was even worse and my husband brought me out backwards which I believe is the correct way to do it . All of a sudden part way down the slope he screamed in agony as his calf muscle popped. Being the caring husband he is he did not let go of me until I was off the ramp and then basically went to pieces with the sheer pain. The chap that was doing the tests got him to a wall and reassured him that he had done the same to his calf muscle in the past and suggested he go straight home and rest it. Since then he has had 13 days of agony with it. Its now black and blue right down past the ankle and all over the calf. He can only carefully weight bear on it and has to try not to move his toes.upwards. All in all this has been a very difficult time for both of us as he is my main carer. We have an appointment to see the gp tomorrow as we feel that it is not simply going away as we thought it would. What would you do in our situation.? I feel that the van was totally unsuitable and unsafe for people to get in and out of. Even walking patients had to struggle out of a side door that had a narrow step on it.For those who presume I am overweight and that is why I am in a wheelchair then you are very narrow minded individuals.
I have laser surgery every 3 mon to save my diabetic eyes.Is there a downside to so much surgery?
The laser surgery is to repair leaking blood vessels to seal them off before they can do damage.FYI, I have had diabetes for 44 years and my doctors are amazed that I am not totally blind. I have near perfect vision. My doctors do not have anyone to compare me against, for they have never heard of anyone like me. The surgery is to keep me out of trouble, so I don't know how long these procedures will last just concerned. I guess that I'm on borrowed time, but very blessed to have lived so long under these conditions. My first surgery was a year ago when I was 53 years old.
Could eyestrain cause bleeding in the diabetic eye?
I am not sure eye strain is a physical problem. Have diabetes 20 years. Had many many bleeds. Had 5 vitrectomies.plus laser treatments. No bleeds for 1 yr. until began on computer 1 month ago. Related?
Is it my GP's fault that my mother never got an annual diabetic eye test?
My mother was diagnoised with diabetes in 1973, due to her major ignorance about her own condition she did not obtain an eye examination she wore glasses in the mid 80's until 1998 when it was discovered, after an accident she had diabetes in her eyes...her GP's have always know she was diabetic from the start....So why did they not arrange a referral to a Diabetic eye specialist at least at the end of the 80's early 90's....?
Question about Diabetic Eye exam?
Ok I got called about a week ago about getting a Diabetic eye exam by my eye doctor. I got tested fo diabetes LAST YEAR And I didnt get any of my results back, this was summer of 2007. Fast foward a year later and I get this call saying I have to come in for a diabetic eye exam, does that mean I have diabetes or does It mean that they only want to test me for it? Because im scared, my mom side of the family has a a few diabetes victims, but I tend to take more from my fathers side which doesnt really have that many sicknesses at all.
Diabetic eye disease - vision lost?
My father has diabetic eye disease. He is 58 years old. 6 month back he got low vision problem in his one eye and we consulted one eye specialist in my city Surat . He suggested for retina laser operation so, we took our chances and go ahead with that. Doc said, my father will start seeing in 1 or 1.5 months. But already 3 months spent and nothing happened. meanwhile his second eye also started losing vision and doc suggested to have operation for that eye also. As my father had unsuccessful operation in one eye, my parents are hesitating for second operation. We took another experts help and got to know that there are very rare chances of success in 'retina laser operation'. My father has low blood pressure too. He has diabetes since long time and he is taking diabetes control injection daily. diabetes is in control most of the time. Current stage is, he can't sign the paper, can't read the paper, can't see other person clearly. The other issue for me is, my parents are too religious and they have started accepting that there is no cure now and its fate. I am quite positive and optimist so I want to know if there are chances off getting vision back or any suggestions, so that I can convey them for second opinion. I have gone through many websites e.g. nei.nih.gov health diabetic retinopathy.asp but don't know what is helpful information. If you want, I can get other medical details, but you need to ask me what I need to look for as I am not familiar with medical terms well. Thanks in advance.
What should I expect at a Diabetic Eye Exam?
I'm a relatively new diabetic type 1, diagnosed in June. Can somebody please tell me what a diabetic eye exam will be like? Do the eye drops sting? And is there any chance of me having one of these complications caused by diabetes? In the eye. Thanks Thanks, but I'm not a brainless idiot and I don't appreciate poor humour. If you don't have any thing intelligent to say, I suggest you don't say anything at all. Thankyou to the people who are saying something relevant, haha. I've just been kind of worried because I already am short sighted.
